I decided to interview my lacrosse coach Bridgett Lawless because she played division 3 college lacrosse when she was in school, and knows first hand what it takes to play at the college level. My overall goal from this interview was, wanting to construct a podcast for future student athletes who want to play lacrosse in college but don’t have some inside knowledge. The questions that I started with all ties into what the UNE women’s lacrosse program is all about. The first portion of the interview starts with the team aspects from the coaches perspective. Where I asked questions likeWhat are the core values of your program, and how do you instill those in your players? What is your coaching staff’s role in supporting players’ academic and athletic success? How do you foster team chemistry and unity among players, especially with a mix of upperclassmen and underclassmen? These questions are all great to know as a future college athlete because it allows you to know how the team works before being a part of it. And the second part included answers to the question; What are some mistakes that recruits commonly make during the recruitment process? This is one of the most important questions that has a great answer that Coach Lawless replied to, she mentions the fact that this specific program starts their recruiting process as early as junior year of high school, so starting early is very important if you want to play for the UNE womens lacrosse team. She also mentioned that being professional with communication is also important. Overall, this interview is meant to help not only for others to know more about the insight of the UNE womens lacrosse program, but also for future college athletes to be more knowledgeable of how to get recruited.
